Hello everyone,

some time ago I saw these staircase cupboards and at first glance I found them really useful.

Now we have been considering whether to replace our regular storage room under the stairs with a staircase cupboard.

Since this will be custom-made by a carpenter, it will also cost a bit.

Who has such a staircase cupboard and can share their experience, was it a worthwhile investment or in the end not as hoped?

The picture is just an example, something along these lines is what we had in mind.

Is chic. But with this house, the 3000-5000€ really doesn't matter that much anyway.;)

I don't find them beautiful. The whole staircase looks bulky and gets lost because of it. A simple drywall with a chest of drawers or a leaning table in front of it seems more harmonious to me. The staircase could still serve as [AB] then.

If you do not necessarily rely on this storage room in the hallway, I would leave the stairs open. An open straight staircase just looks good!

Of course, it depends on the room. If it is big enough, or the staircase runs through a lounge, you can do that. Otherwise, I agree with and . We originally planned it as a cloakroom too, but our entrance hall is only 2.6x3.9m (including the stairs), and that would have been too bulky. Besides, it’s rather impractical to have to open doors all the time. And wet jackets in a closed cupboard don’t make sense either. We had a floating drawer chest built, and above it a completely normal clothes rail. The bottom of the drawers is a grid, which also ventilates the shoes (or they usually stand underneath anyway).

Not everyone lives in the Sauerland, where jackets are almost wet all year round. :D
