Good morning,
I can turn the part shown in the picture (the upper arrow). Then the collector also cools down at night. That’s how I conducted the test. The lower arrow points to the flow meter.
It is indeed correct that the collector cools down at night in summer to avoid stagnation or damage. But I noticed this on "cold" days, when after 3 days I had to start heating, and the collector showed 77°C, even though it was cloudy all day.
I just want to prevent heating my collector in winter, otherwise the system has no value for me. I want to get about 30°C from above on nice days in winter and only heat the difference. One could also close the valve, but what if I’m at work and suddenly the sun comes out (you can’t really trust the weather forecast). Then I’d be constantly running back and forth opening and closing it.
I think there must be a way for the collector to cool down at night in summer but keep the temperature in the storage tank in winter and not unintentionally release it.
I only became skeptical when my installer said that is not possible.
