Hello everyone,

we looked at a model house from Elbe-Haus yesterday. During the conversation, it came up that instead of stone on stone, prefabricated parts were delivered that were simply put together on site.

Does anyone have experience with this and can tell me the advantages and disadvantages compared to stone on stone?

Thanks to you.

I searched on Google, but I'm interested in experiences. The time savings don't really matter to me.

No experience? I tend to suspect that stone on stone (solid) is better. As a layperson, I could imagine that prefabricated parts might not fit together as precisely as in solid construction. As already mentioned, the time savings that construction companies try to lure with don't really interest me. I can also wait 7 months or so for solid construction. The main thing is that everything is fine later. Of course, what is most important to me is thermal insulation and soundproofing. Both seem to balance each other out somehow. At least that's how it seems to me.

Hi we built with Elbe-Haus in 2014 and are very satisfied with the construction work. The prefabricated parts you are talking about are not whole walls, but storey-high masonry sections of a maximum of about 80 cm width. We have a single-storey bungalow. The truck with the parts arrived the evening before assembly, the next day the parts were placed on the floor slab and glued more to it and to each other than mortared. The main advantage besides speed is that there are fewer joints, which are bad for the insulation value. The accuracy of fit is so good that the window fitter does not even come to measure the windows again, but manufactures the windows directly according to the factory planning and they fit accordingly. There is nothing to complain about. With 36.5cm thick walls, we were able to achieve Kfw 70 according to the 2014 standard without any further insulation measures on the exterior walls. I can only recommend Elbe-Haus for the construction method, adherence to deadlines and compliance with the budget. By the way, this construction method is also solid construction. Just with larger bricks.

According to the website, these are aerated concrete precast elements. So they are not "precast concrete parts".

Precast elements and precast concrete parts, isn't that the same? I read more closely again, it concerns system wall elements. Story-high and maybe 1m wide (estimated the width from the picture), which are joined side by side like Lego. But what are system wall elements? Is that a whole element, cast in the factory as one piece or should I rather imagine many small stones (Ytong) that have now just been assembled into a whole element? Does anyone have experience with that? We have made an appointment for consultation, but I would like to be informed beforehand to take a look at the advantages and disadvantages. On site, logically only advantages will be mentioned.
