Wow, thanks for the great 3D visualization. It really helps to imagine it better. The lounge corner right next to the glass looks very cozy, simply a great idea!

According to the architect, we could now easily make the extension 10-20 cm higher because he planned the roof structure generously and it can be scaled down. Going even higher, up to 2.80 or 3 m, is not quite so easy, since we would need a distance approval from the city. But it might be possible; we are still considering whether to do it. We would like to make tall cabinets from the wardrobe to the kitchen (as already suggested here). Floor-to-ceiling—would that look good with a room height of 2.60 or 3 m?

these are struts - I once had such a stair railing and almost, only more delicate, would have liked to install it in the current house as well. But it no longer fit visually.

Many thanks to Yvonne.
I’m afraid the visualization is a bit misleading due to the missing ceilings. The opening to the "Lounge corner" is only 1.25 m at the floor level of the living room. Then comes the ceiling of the extension. And there are also 2 columns. That means you actually only look at the legs of the living room users from below. Hmm, I wonder how that will look?

they have 8 steps. However, the upper room is deeper.

Yes, the visualization without ceilings is misleading, maybe we really should raise the room height. I had also thought about raising the floor to save a staircase. Then you "see" each other better... The wall actually comes out a bit further than in the floor plan drawing, up to the end of the dining room, and the two drawn-in columns will go away (roof beams).

On the other hand, I’m considering that even in living-dining rooms on the same level, people usually try not to see each other all the time by separating with a stove, walls, etc.

I find it a tough decision with our unusual floor plan, but we are definitely really happy about your inputs!

Have you already considered a shed roof instead of the flat roof?
