Hello,

who doesn't have a splash guard above the countertop? For us, for aesthetic reasons, only a splash guard is planned above/behind the stove; above/behind the sink there is a window. Otherwise, there would only be a wipe strip, above which wallpaper fleece is applied and painted. I wonder: Do people regret that? Or just try it out and possibly add a splash guard later? To the people who have nothing: Does your wall still look okay? And to the people who, for example, have painted with elephant skin: How does that look (compared to a normal paint job)? We have an open kitchen and I wouldn’t immediately know where to make a transition...

Thanks for your experiences and recommendations!

Completely without splash protection. Even behind the stove there's only a white painted wall (with fleece underneath). But the countertop is 10 cm deeper, so almost nothing reaches the wall. I will do it the same way in the next house. The wall still looks great after four years.

Uh no. We had painted the wall with mineral paint, which is washable and scrub-resistant. After nearly two years, we installed a glass splash guard.

We had no splash guard behind the sink. Our window is positioned higher than the countertop. It quickly looked unsightly, and now there is a splash guard there. For aesthetic reasons, we have a glass splash guard behind the hob and all around one made from the material of the fronts. However, not very high.

The same applies to us: in the area of the sink, the painted plaster looked blotchy. Grease had penetrated. During the Corona period, I painted the wall section (tile panel size) with a nicotine blocker and repainted it with matte latex paint. I think that achieves the desired result.
