Hello everyone,

we are building a house on a slab foundation without a basement. According to the soil survey, we have to excavate about 1.50m of soil because there are depressions at that depth that are unfavorable for load-bearing capacity. The built-up area is about 100 sqm. Can you say whether I can store the resulting excavation of 150 cubic meters on my property, or will the pile be too large? The property is about 600 sqm. The soil is then to be used for filling and spreading on the property.

Thanks and regards

Of course that will fit, 1.50m is not much, your property is big after all.

Best regards

...for distribution that will be too much. From personal experience: we paid €1800 for the removal of about 120 sqm (without soil analysis and almost 4 years ago now...)

If you want to raise the property by an average of 30cm (and can) then maybe. But do you want the soil to be like [Oberbayern]? You don't necessarily find the finest topsoil at a depth of 1m... Better to get rid of it then...

We had the turf removed and only kept the better soil. We had arranged this with the excavator beforehand. However, there was still a lot of "trash" included... stones, pottery shards, plastic... I would have preferred to have it removed as well. You’re always wiser afterwards... but since it was a field before, we thought the soil would be somewhat usable.

Pure storage should not be a problem. Such piles can easily reach 3 meters high, but they also spread out a bit. However, it should not take up more than 150m².
