Hello everyone,
I hope I can get some information - and suggestions on the topic of soundproofing here.
I am an absolute beginner and already apologize if I don’t know technical terms and have to describe them instead :)
To keep it short anyway:
I live in a 3-room apartment and want to soundproof my bedroom from noise (impact sound, music) as much as possible. The effort does not matter to me... but as effective and inexpensive as possible!
The weak point of the apartment is the ceiling... it is porous... I believe only beams and rubble were used, so no dowel really holds.
I have thought about suspending the ceiling and have had good experiences with this in the living room, as there, after water damage, the ceiling was repaired - or rather suspended - and since then there has been a clear improvement regarding sound transmission from the neighbor above me. The drywall installer was done in no time: Knauf Piano GKF and simple double-layer mineral wool used... along the walls Aluprofile rails. Now I have read that there are extreme (price) differences with the boards and insulation (wool).
Since I had good experience with the concept, I want to apply it the same way in the bedroom... of course optimized! Would it make a difference (and I am only interested in soundproofing):
1.) Instead of using one layer of drywall boards, use two layers?
2.) Are there differences regarding the boards? (Knauf Piano; Rigips "Die Blaue"... etc.)
3.) Is the very expensive Knauf Silenceboard worth the price... or better to use several layers of cheaper ones?
4.) Which mineral wool is recommended (Sonorock..Isover SSP2... or just simple wool)?
5.) Is the distance from the ceiling to the mineral wool important - or decisive?
I would be very, very happy to receive constructive information and experiences.
Best regards, Stephan
