Hello,
we have had a soil survey prepared for a plot of land we want to acquire. A single-family house without a basement is to be built here.
We are now interested in the approximate additional costs for excavation, filling, compaction, and for the compaction certificate.
Excerpt from the soil survey:
"Building ground:
widespread up to 40 cm thick, humic, sandy,
artificial fillings; below are up to max. 1.9 m thick,
sandy, artificial fillings ([SU*]) in loose to
medium dense layering, containing brick remnants; below follows
up to max. 2.8 m below ground surface (BS 2/16) sand/gravelly sand (SU*) in
loose to medium dense layering; underlying is up to max.
4.3 m below ground surface (BS 1/16) sand/gravelly clay (SU*) in
medium dense layering; down to the final depth of 6.0 m below ground surface
(BS 1/16) fine sands (SU*, SU) in medium dense to dense
layering were encountered
Conclusion:
replacement of the humic, root-penetrated soils/fillings with
at least 1.5 m thickness
Foundation: shallow foundation; assumption top finished floor ground floor = 0.3 m BP (preliminary planning),
i.e. approx. 50 cm above the level of the BS 1/16 sounding
Base slab:
bearing reinforced base slab (footing slab) with frost skirts;
bedding modulus (ks) = 12 MN/m³
bedding cushion of sand/gravel below the base slab
allowable pressures beneath the footing slab: approximately 100 kN/m²
strip foundations (frost skirts): embedment depth = 0.80 m
foundation width 0.3 m
allowable base stress = 150 kN/m2
(design value R/d = 210 kN/m2)
Frost zone:
Zone II, area 4, maximum frost penetration depth 105 cm (RSto 2001)
Water level:
groundwater encountered from 5.31 m below ground surface in BS 1/16
Water management:
not required, dry holding of the construction site
Building waterproofing for non-basement construction:
Waterproofing according to DIN 18195-4 against soil moisture,
WU guideline: stress class 2
Infiltration:
sustainable infiltration on site into the fillings and
silty sands not possible or not recommended
Note on earthworks:
Earth leveling must be compacted again; application of at least 30 cm thick
gravel layer at footing level, then installation of soil replacement and
a terrain fill of non-cohesive soils (GW, SW) with max. approx. 2.4 m is
to be planned – verification of at least medium dense layering of the
gravel layer, soil replacement and terrain fill;
control test (compaction certificate) under external supervision is recommended
