So, can you finance with them?

Hello everyone,

I was at Interhyp.
The optimal offer for me is with Ergo.
And they are significantly better than my house bank or our Sparkasse.
Also, on the side, things look good.
- The repayment rate can be adjusted twice for free, after that it costs 100 euros.
- In case of non-utilization, I can return up to 20k free of charge.

Everything fits for me.

I don’t know Ergo or any other banks besides my house bank.
And on the internet, I really can’t find much about them.
Only a current Stiftung-Warentest test.
But unfortunately, it does not explicitly cover Ergo.

Can one finance with them or do I have to worry?
I saw they have a cooperation with Wüstenroth. They are somewhat better known.

Ergo is known as an insurance group. If the offer suits you, why not do it.

I would involve 1-2 more financial advisors and check out the regional banks. In the end, the construction financier has to agree. From my own experience, I know that this is not always the case.

Yes, you can do that, but I wouldn't. Ergo, formerly known as Hamburg Mannheimer Investment, committed a lot of fraud in the 90s and cheated thousands of investors. Additionally, there is the Budapest affair during the time when they were already Ergo, etc. So maybe others have a lot of dirt on them too, but with them, I remember it every time I hear about a dental insurance.

From my broker, I received the statement that insurance companies (Ergo, Allianz) as lenders have to be more precise (more picky) than "real" banks. In particular, it concerns the availability of documents. This is probably because there are stricter requirements for risk assessment for "non-banks."

I myself financed with an insurance company not previously mentioned and it was completely trouble-free. They had the best conditions (and I really compared a lot). During the construction with individual trade contracts, everything went smoothly, including advances of 20-30K€. Can't complain.
