Hello,

for the preparation of the building application documents, we were asked by the developer to obtain information about the [Schnellastzone]. Both the developer and the responsible municipality referred us to [schneelast.info].

Unfortunately, the queries there are linked to an annual membership, which in effect means a price of €65 for a single query.

How have the other property owners done this?

Thank you very much!

Hello,

we simply asked Aunt Google and looked at the snow load map according to DIN 1055-5 there.

Our building site was clearly located in snow load zone 2 according to this map.

It becomes critical, of course, if one of the boundaries would lie at your place...

However, I think an architect should be able to give precise information.

Where do you want to build?

Regards,

Dirk

Our architect clarified that with the municipality. But that didn't cost us anything either.

I am surprised that such a request comes from your [Bauträger]. If the [Bauträger] takes over the planning, it is, in my opinion, part of his tasks (or the company’s own architect’s) to determine and correctly consider the applicable snow load zone. Have you commissioned an expert or the [Bauherren-Schutzbund] for your construction for monitoring purposes? If yes, they should be able to provide you with information quite quickly upon a polite request.

Thank you for the answers, the calculation is carried out by the architect, it was only about the notification of the zone in advance. The municipality referred to the above-mentioned portal. Here I found the membership fee for a one-time query not to be effective.

A map is available, as well as a list from the state of Baden-Württemberg for the district of Karlsruhe. For all who are interested:

District of Karlsruhe: Snow load zone 1: All municipalities, unless in zone 2 Snow load zone 2: Bretten, Karlsbad, Kürnbach, Marxzell, Oberderdingen, Sulzfeld, Zaisenhausen.
