Hello everyone
I have a garden shed with a base area of 6mx2.5m, that is 15sqm. Since I also want to create a walking area all around it, the foundation extends to 8mx4.5m, that is 36sqm.
At first, I thought I would create a full-surface concrete foundation, then build an underlying frame using squared timber on it, and then place the garden shed on top. That way it would also be firmly anchored.
However, I have to admit that the foundation slab would already exceed the price of the garden shed and I feel that this is overkill.
After contacting the garden shed manufacturer, they said that a simple slab foundation (paving slabs) is completely sufficient. However, I definitely want to anchor it.
Therefore my question is what you think about the following plan:
I will create a slab foundation made of walkways. 15cm gravel, 5cm paving grit, then the slabs on top. At the corners I will drill 20x80cm deep holes and create a point foundation. The squared timber construction will then be anchored at the corners, through the paving slabs, into the point foundations using bolt anchors. The squared timbers that form the inner frame (where the floor lies on top) will only be laid on the paving slabs and not screwed.
Now my question:
1. Is it bad if only the corners are anchored?
2. Do I need a frost skirt around the slab foundation?
Thank you very much
Best regards Jumbo
