Hello everyone,

I would like to get tips and experiences from you again.
We are planning a utility room on the 1st floor, which is almost exclusively for laundry. So, it should include:
Washing machine, dryer, detergent, a utility sink (is that what it's called??), space for sorting laundry, a laundry cabinet for towels, etc., possibly also some cleaning supplies and a vacuum cleaner.

Currently, the shell dimensions are 3.51 x 1.70m. If we place the washing machine and dryer as planned along the longer side, there will be just under 1m in front of the washing machine to work with. Inspired by another thread, I have now noticed that this might be too tight and uncomfortable.

How much space do you have in front of your washing machine? From when does it become really comfortable, without your butt sticking to the wall?

Remember that you can't put everything from the washing machine directly into the dryer and you might also need space for a drying rack. Why actually use the 3.51 side and not the 1.7 side? Then you would still have a comfortable 2.9 m for maneuvering and for an ironing board and drying rack. So, purely in terms of size, the room is sufficient.

Remember: between the machine and you there still has to be the laundry basket... So the more space, the better.

I think I know from which thread you got the idea...
So, I checked exactly and we have 2.03m width minus 65cm for the platform, which leaves me 1.33m of space in front of the washing machine. Opposite the washing machine is also the distribution box for the floor height. As I said, I find it a bit tight. I estimate about 2m width is optimal.

Thank you for your answers. I find it so practical to be able to exchange ideas about such questions here.

So we will be able to bend it on the long side... it's not so dramatic now, it was planned that way by the architect. If we go to the short side, the washing machine and dryer are under the window. It will be difficult to reach them there, and we also wanted to install a utility sink, which might get cramped again.

Do you have the two appliances standing on a pedestal? What height is recommended there?

I believe our podium is about 3cm high and I don't want to miss it anymore.
