The width is initially the second question, as it is already predetermined now if we don’t want to change everything on the masonry again. However, we are not yet in agreement about the material of the door, as there are differing opinions. I can already see that we will have to have one made according to our ideas :)

I also think a sturdy wooden door is quite good. Of course, the entrance area must consist of two leaves. A small door is sufficient for the basement.

I previously also had a wooden door in the entrance area, but the heat loss was extreme. I always had the impression that cold and moisture entered the house unhindered. That is why the aluminum front doors.

So Kurt, wooden front doors aren't that bad after all; a solid wood front door with a thickness of 40mm has a thermal transmittance of 2.2 W/(sqm K), a solid wood front door with a thickness of 60mm is at 1.7 W/(sqm K). And then it also depends on the type of wood, so it's already comparable to insulated plastic doors. The problem is only if you have glazing in the door and it is not made of thermal insulation glass.
