I have not addressed this (and other) detail(s) so far because I believe overall that the shown design is still far from being the final one. Therefore, I have initially limited myself to the building structures and their positions and dimensions.

I agree, since the straight staircase is in the "line" of the back entrance. And the dimensions of the hallway, at least on the plan, suggest that. One will feel as if entering the side entrance and wonder where the main entrance leads to.
