Why is the design as it is now? e.g.

Which wishes were implemented by the architect?
What is the most important/basic question about the floor plan summarized in 130 characters?

Hello everyone. We worked out both variants with our architect and are not quite sure which one we like better. Next to the stove there is a stove bench in each.
The windows throughout the house are not yet finally drawn in; we need to discuss them again.
Between the house and garage we are building a carport, do you think the window from the kitchen makes sense even though it basically looks into the carport? We think at least you can see the children playing and who is driving up as well.
To the east is a single-family house, to the south is a large meadow, to the west the street, very little traffic as it is very rural.
This is my first post, I hope I did everything right, if not, please excuse me in advance.

Looking forward to your suggestions. Best regards

Not exactly wrong, but a bit unnecessary to illustrate the second version as well. Long story short, the question would also have been understandable if presented "text only": "We are considering whether to build basically the same floor plan with the fireplace either at the ridge or at the eaves." The answer is quite simple: the flatter the roof, the more it is purely a matter of taste; otherwise, the fireplace (chimney) at the eaves is technically less favorable and visually more conspicuous. In that case, I would make it stand out more deliberately, namely on the outside (and differentiated in material and/or color).

In short, asked, to the point: what is the roof pitch?

P.S.: If there are two different living room doors, I would design the one aligned with the front door as a regular swing door. Furthermore, I had forgotten one of my mantras: Building fantasy dimensions is not very rational and typically leads to botched work pockets.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm interested. Of course also in what you generally think about the floor plan, and since something also changes upstairs in both variants, I thought it would be helpful. I will ask about the roof pitch; we haven't talked about it yet, we are still at the very beginning.

Would you leave out the second door? Which two living room doors do you mean? And where do you see fantasy dimensions? What is your overall impression of the floor plan otherwise? Thank you for your time. Best regards
