House Design
From whom is the design: Do-it-Yourself, architect (sketches)
Previously a design from an architect, elements were adopted from it
What do you particularly like? Why?
What do you not like? Why?
Price estimate according to architect/planner: 450,000
Personal price limit for the house, including equipment: 500,000
Preferred heating technology: air-to-water heat pump, possibly geothermal
If you have to do without, which details/extensions
-can you do without:
-can you not do without: generous kitchen and dining area
Why is the design the way it is now?
So far it has been quite a long process, as general floor plans found in show homes and on the internet, as well as cubatures and wishes for this plot, were not expedient. Initially, conversations took place with architect friends. They produced the first sketches (see attachment; sketches oriented north) and gave crucial tips on orientation etc.
Due to the slope, a basement is advisable. This "looks" out of the ground on the street side. Neighbors often have the garage in the basement, so these were our first ideas as well, which were discarded again due to the space required for an office. The entrance area is still planned in the basement on the street side.
The photo roughly shows the neighboring buildings; unfortunately, there are no plans that show the development. Since the neighbor to the south is relatively close and tall, our main orientation is planned to the west (also better long-distance view).
The garage should be walkable or serve as a terrace and partially planted (cost factor?).
The ground floor should cantilever somewhat above the basement (cost factor?), to structure the facade (model photo).
My concern mainly relates to the ground floor layout.
What stands out to you or what would be suggestions for alternatives? How do you see the differences between the two designs?
We are quite open about the design of the staircase; the sketch shows a straight staircase, which takes up considerably more space.
The client wishes for a laundry chute; where could this be integrated?
The majority of the windows and the bathroom furnishings are placeholders, so please do not assign too much importance to them.
What is the most important/fundamental question about the floor plan summarized in 130 characters?
Comments and further suggestions on the floor plan, especially on the ground floor. The basement and upper floor will be adjusted accordingly.
Best regards
