I see advantages and disadvantages in both options. What I personally absolutely cannot imagine is that someone would one day hand us the proverbial "key" and our house (without any EL) would be move-in ready. It would be very difficult for me to accept the building immediately as "my own home" – that feeling is missing that you have created something yourself (as much as you can) (with sweat and calluses on your hands ). Of course, many will shake their heads now, but this is what matters to us
Hello,
please don’t be misled by the term "turnkey".
It is by no means the case that it works on the principle "money in – house out."
Even with turnkey building (and by that I really mean ready to move in) the builders still have more than enough to do, especially if both the female and male clients are employed full-time.
We have now arranged it so that we will finish our guest room/office in the basement ourselves (so that we have done something ourselves) , but really leave the rest to the professionals.
Regards,
Dirk
