So, now I have replaced the shower mixer. At first, one side was not tight, but using the old sealing rings instead of the new ones, everything worked out :). Turning off the water also worked well, it took quite a few turns :). Overall, the replacement went pretty quickly and finally it doesn't drip anymore.

We now have a hygrometer in the bathroom. We even had over 100% humidity. How is that possible? After airing, the humidity quickly drops to about 55-60%.

We still need to address the issue with the mold. Can this also be done on the joints with such mold spray (we have only used it on wallpaper so far)? j.

Hello jenne,

since you were surprised by the number of turns, I assume that you do not operate your shut-off valves regularly.

But you should definitely make a habit of this to keep them functional.

When we still lived in our "old" apartment, there was a severe water damage in the neighboring building caused by the lack of control over the functionality of the shut-off valves:

A neighbor noticed that the angle valve in the kitchen was dripping heavily - so he wanted to turn off the hot water at the corresponding shut-off tap in the apartment - but it was completely stuck and could not be moved. The neighbor then tried to close the shut-off valve with a plumber’s wrench, which, however, led to the complete breakage of the shut-off valve.

The apartment was uninhabitable for nearly three months and the damage to the building caused by the water was very significant, in the five-digit range...

Long story short: Closing and reopening the shut-off valves every few weeks can prevent severe water damage...;)

Best regards,

Dirk

Yes, I turned the screw for the first time. After 15 years in the house, it was somehow due one day :).

Thanks to everyone for the info already.
