Hello everyone,

We want to realize our shower in the attic floor 1x1.6m flush with the floor. Would you recommend a tileable shower element (preferably also sources) or have the tiler create a sloped screed?

Such a shower element easily costs around €700 without installation. I would assume that the sloped screed might be the cheaper solution? (We don’t have a tiler yet, we will soon start looking).

Thanks to you

So, as the name already suggests, sloped screed is done by the screed installer. The companies I work with do this without extra charge and with high quality. In this respect, definitely the most cost-effective solution and certainly good. I have done this in the last two times in 5 houses and had no complaints. The finish must of course be done by an experienced tiler.

Of course, any tile setter will also do the screed for you... would also do sloped screed.

Please no!!! The tiler comes after the screed! The slope must already be there! Exactly sloping SCREED. The screed layer must know this and build it that way!!!

In our area, it is common that the shower is left out of the screed. After that comes the tiler, mixes a few bags of screed concrete, inserts a screed mesh, and models it as desired. I have never heard that it didn't work. It is definitely more cost-effective. A few bags of screed (max. €50) Screed mesh (€10) 2h tiler (€100) So definitely cheaper than the board

okay, learned something new again!
If I have screed laid, everything is discussed and it does not cost extra. No bags, no storage, nothing on the side. Everything from a professional (for warranty reasons).
How many houses do you build like this each year?
