Hello everyone, the last earthworks in the garden were carried out in September. After that, we sowed grass, which has also grown really well.

Now, after three months and a lot of rain, the ground has settled quite a bit in one spot. We have not laid any cables or other hoses underground at this spot. Is that normal or do you find it concerning?

Our excavator operator compacted the entire area several times with his excavator. He already told us that quite a bit of settling would still happen. But at this spot, it is already quite a lot, isn’t it, what do you think?

Greetings

Why should that be a concern? It has simply settled. As long as it is the lawn and the terrace doesn't slide away, it's fine.

Our turf is now also a bumpy track because it has been filled over 2 meters high.

Driving over it once with the excavator does not compact it either. Only the topsoil layer should be nice and loose. Several spots will settle further. So wait a little longer. If it then bothers you, you can do something about it or just leave it as is.

Keep adding some soil and sand regularly, then the lawn will grow upwards, or you wait at least 3 years and then carry out a big action with partially new lawn ... but even then the soil will continue to settle.

Our house construction has been completed for more than 10 years and I have filled holes for the 3rd time now .. and it still continues to settle .. that is just part of it after filling.

Yes, I think we will fill up gradually. We were aware that it would settle, we were just unsure because suddenly there was such a big hole.
