Hello everyone,

what are the opinions regarding the installation location of the Sat multiswitch? Does it make more sense to install it in the cold attic or in the technical room in the basement?
The house will have two full floors with a flat gable roof (unheated attic) and a basement.

Pro attic:
-less loss, as the multiswitch is close to the satellite dish
-less cabling effort, as most connections are on the upper floor (3x twin connections). This allows the rooms to be connected directly. Ground floor (2x twin), basement (1x twin)
-satellite cables between the multiswitch and the satellite dish are easier to replace if they become defective after X years.

Pro basement:
-fewer penetrations of the vapor barrier in the ceiling of the top floor
-all technology is located in the technical room in the basement

Thank you very much for the opinions and suggestions.

It's probably a matter of belief...

Pro basement (at least for us), here it is usually more easily accessible. You usually plan more outlets than connections on the multiswitch. That way you can simply switch later.

Per basement:

If cable connection is additionally planned or comes up at some point, distribution directly there.

But be careful with the cable connection: the cables are only allowed to have 95db, otherwise the technician is not allowed to connect them. We installed 120db.

We also have the distribution in the attic. Made the cable routing easier. You don't really have to access it often, so it should be conveniently reachable.
