Roofer's bill too high?

Hello dear Häusele Bauer,

I have a new balcony, 18.5 sqm, for which I hired a known roofer without a quote (I know, not smart) to install roofing felt (2 layers), a gutter, and 2 finishing strips (left and right). Now the invoice has arrived, €2,100, about half of what the entire balcony including installation cost. The invoice lists €1,100 for labor, he was here for nearly 13 hours. After researching online, the material should be somewhere between €500-600 (I always took the highest prices). I calculated €1,400. Can I have this invoice checked somewhere? Is there an association for that?

Place an order without a quote and then complain about the price? Sorry, you'll just have to bite the bullet and learn the hard way.

Talk to him, maybe he will meet you halfway. Especially if he is from the town/[Umland].

An hour of a craftsman, a master or a self-employed person often costs between €60 and €70... then the 19% are added... so €1100 is not that unrealistic...
