Hello everyone. We have bought a mid-terrace house and are now facing the roof insulation. The roof rests on an approx. 40cm high [Drempel] and has a wall with additional wooden posts inside at a distance of 1.0m. This cavity is not insulated at all and you can see directly onto the visible boarding. The slope inside the room is insulated only with fiberglass in such bags without a vapor barrier and goes up to the collar beams at about 2.40 height. The ceiling is closed at the collar beams and the same bagged material lies on top of it.
We plan to open up the roof apex, fully insulate the roof with insulation between the rafters (140mm) including a vapor barrier, and insulate and clad up to the wall.
How should we proceed with the [Drempel]/knee wall then? Also insulate with 140mm and a vapor barrier? The vapor barrier would then be interrupted by this wall—would this be a problem if it is tightly glued on both sides of the wall?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
