Roller shutters - plastic or aluminum?

Hello house building community,

I noticed something today during a conversation with a builder.

Our windows are in anthracite and so should be our window sills and roller shutters.

Now I have read that the roller shutters in anthracite are made of aluminum and not like the normal ones made of plastic.

Do you have any experience with the aluminum roller shutters? Do they rattle in the wind, or anything else?

Or do they even offer advantages compared to plastic roller shutters?

The aluminum roller shutters are somewhat more robust. Since aluminum is stiffer than plastic, the likelihood of bulging forming in the closed state on wide windows is lower. Aluminum is more resistant to weather influences from UV light (fading), heat (dimensional stability), cold (brittleness).

The first slat of the roller shutter is connected to the roller shutter shaft by stainless steel sheets. Since plastic loses plasticizers over time and becomes brittle, the first plastic slat tends to break with age.

It is also more burglar-proof because it cannot be melted open. As I see it, we will probably stick with the [Aluminiumrollläden]
