Hello,

I am currently building a turnkey house and have decided to use radio-controlled roller shutter motors. Accordingly, 230 V is routed to each window. My question is whether it makes more sense to have the electrician run a separate supply line from the control cabinet to each window or always branch off somewhere. When I was on site last time, I saw that the electrician apparently just takes the supply lines from the nearest socket. An extra charge of 100 euros for the 230 V installation is quite steep if he only lays 3 meters of cable. Even just for smart home etc., isn't it more sensible?

With radio control, it doesn't really matter. The roller shutters are connected in parallel (unless the electrician is currently Bob the Builder), meaning you can control the branched circuits/supply lines individually. It would also be possible to connect directly from the control cabinet. However, if everything is on the same 16A fuse anyway (which I assume from your description), it actually doesn't make a difference whether the wiring is branched off from the socket or laid from the control cabinet (the latter even saves a few meters of cable).

If you are sure that it will be radio motors now and forever, then it doesn't matter. But it is better to centralize everything in one place, then you can theoretically also convert to another solution.

With or without "chasing" of a masonry?

It's not nice, but it will work through the radio motors. However, if one breaks, you have a lot of effort to replace it. It would be nicer - if "SmartHome" controlled the switches wirelessly - since replacing a switch is much easier than a roller shutter motor. Why did you pay a 100€ surcharge? What else did he want to put there? 12V?

A defective engine is a defective engine, it does not matter how it is controlled.
