Hello everyone,

I am considering what the better option is regarding effort/time and difficulty.
We are building a prefab house next year and will be doing the ceiling paneling and spackling ourselves, among other things.

The question now is how we should spackle the drywall sheets:

- Spackle cleanly (Q3), with several working steps and then apply textured roller plaster on top?

or

- Roughly spackle once and then plaster normally?

Has anyone maybe tried both and can make a comparison?
Is spackling at Q3 level with adequate effort even feasible for a layperson?

Thank you very much and best regards

Q3 and a layman lead to despair. You also have to be able to handle the grinding giraffe well.

Q3 is left to be done. Everything else Selvmade should be done as well as possible. The figure cannot certainly be determined then.

Okay, understood. I only wrote Q3 because I read that this level is needed for fine textured plaster.

Put differently: As a layperson, can you even manage the smoothing so that you get a reasonably good result with textured plaster? With acceptable effort? Or is it more sensible to plaster normally right away, after rough smoothing? Would the effort be much greater in this case?

Or, put simply: How would you do it if you had the choice?

Filling. As well as you can. Roll the plaster base on it, filled plaster base. It contains tiny grains of sand. That incredibly masks unevenness. Then wall paint on top. Done.
