Rigips ceiling - insulation?

Hi,

we want to renovate the ceilings in the newly acquired house. At the moment, there are wooden panels attached to the ceiling, which should be removed and replaced with drywall. Should I insulate the ceiling at the same time? It is the upper floor, with the attic above it.

If insulating, then with what? Do I need to install a vapor barrier or just the insulation material, since the attic is above – so no exterior wall?

So, I once insulated the attic in a multi-family house. Pretty much like in your case. We did it with glass wool, without a vapor barrier because as far as I know you only use that on exterior walls. Of course, it makes sense in your case since the attic is cold and the heat doesn’t pass through right away. I would do it.
