Yes, exactly not :) There is a company in Leipzig that rents out almost new construction site electrical boxes for 25€ per month. Picking up and bringing back would not be a problem for me. The used one costs 220€ and in addition there are the 2x RCDs for maybe 200€. With a used one, I might end up paying more if I have to get something fixed on it. Renting costs me a maximum of something between 100-150€.

Don't lose yourself in trivialities. Make sure you get a construction power box that also runs the crane. A €100-200 difference is nothing compared to the hassle if the crane doesn't run (we had exactly this case and had to retrofit for almost €400 and only got this late in the evening before commissioning the crane thanks to good connections to an electrician. By the way, the owner of the box covered the €400). €100 or €200 is also "a lot" of money, but in construction I learned there's a small expense for €500, the next steps are 1K, 5K, and serious thinking about how to pay for it ;-)

If the difference between buying and renting is so small, I would in any case rent from the builder = crane operator. My employer often sets up machines with frequency converters on (industrial) construction sites, which are then connected to the customer's construction site power distributors. In about 50% of all cases, there are problems because the RCD of the construction site power distributor does not match the frequency converter or the RCD of our machine or there is one RCD too many or... or... I would avoid the effort of solving this - if it is doable "for little money" - at any time and choose the same person responsible for both crane and construction site power distributor.

Thank you for the example and the hints. Then I’d rather borrow something reasonable and new.

Ask for a rental at Elektro Pögen in Rabenau. I got that as a cheap offer back then, only one on site was then a bit more practical and not really more expensive, otherwise it would have been Pögen.

Every construction power box has at least a 16A CEE socket. Otherwise, the plasterers will be out of luck at the latest because the mixing machine won’t run; it needs three-phase current. But even the bricklayers will probably already have problems with their band saw...
