Renovate apartment, floor plan design

I am looking for ideas on how we can improve the following apartment, as a renovation is due anyway (windows need to be replaced, as well as a basic modernization of the rooms from 1975).

South is shown in the photo below.

The apartment should be for 2 people. We want an open living-dining area.
The bathroom definitely needs to be changed. However, a shower is sufficient for us.
We own the entire basement, so we can relocate washing machines etc. there.
An office as a small separate room would be great. If necessary, it can also be placed in the basement.

What ideas do you have for changes? You always get such good advice and new possibilities shown here.
Currently, we are also considering whether to somehow adjust/shrink the balcony or turn it into a terrace.

You can work it out and draw it yourself out of your own interest. Or how do you plan it yourself? You draw an idea every day, put something on paper... where do you do that?
