Thank you all for the opinions and contributions. I by no means want to definitely remove the parquet and replace it with "Plastikgedöns" nor am I "against preserving value." It was merely a thought - which I will probably discard again quickly. Because as it looks, it is not a real "meaningful" option.

Hello,

Do that, you can rent the machines at any well-stocked hardware store.

I don't have to understand that... we are currently doing pull-ups on the heating side to preserve the existing parquet.

If you don't want to sand it yourself, it will cost you about €25.00/30.00 per square meter to have it sanded by a professional; then more money for good oil and finishing. Afterwards, the parquet will outlast you; minor damages can be easily repaired.

Decently looking and durable parquet also starts at €30.00/sqm; industrial laminate is better if it has to be this resin-soaked cardboard. This costs about as much as good parquet. But first you have to remove the strip parquet — better with a scraper, otherwise that will cost another good €25.00-30.00/sqm; prepare the floor to receive the laminate etc.

You can do the math yourself....

Rhenish greetings

I wouldn't see it as black and white. One has to like strip parquet; it's quite "old-fashioned." With laminate, you have the option to achieve a clearly more modern look. What is more important to someone must probably be decided individually. I can at least understand the decision to tear out strip parquet, though of course it would be nicer to replace it with more beautiful new parquet. Besides parquet and laminate, there are nowadays also other options.

And you have to dig comparably deep into your pocket (at the cost of parquet), if it is to become a value-stable floor covering

That is certainly true, but even with the alternatives, quality always has its price

Best regards from the Rhineland
