Hello,

we would like to build a single-family house on a plot of land where there is currently a 1.80m deep garden pond.
Now the question arises which companies are suitable for this and whether it is financially worthwhile to remove the garden pond or to build a basement. Is a company for gardening and landscaping sufficient for the removal of the garden pond and compaction, or is a larger construction company for earthworks necessary for something like this?

Thank you very much for the help!

So the pond is approximately 10m long and 7m wide with a depth of 1.80m, although it only has this depth in the very center on a small area

Every excavation company has leftover material somewhere and can fill the pond. Usually also at good prices. One should only pay attention to proper compaction.

A basement, however, certainly costs more than such a fill.

Are two different companies responsible for filling and compacting then?

No. Your future construction contractor or their earthworks contractor usually does that right away. You just shouldn’t forget to mention it in the construction description or the bill of quantities. We’re talking about approximately 50m3 of backfill. Usually, excavation material remains on site during construction, which would have to be hauled away anyway. The pond is probably somewhat silted up and has a plastic lining. Then you still have disposal costs??
