Living area * 1600 EUR (standard, at least 1750 EUR in 3 years) plus 30-40k additional construction costs, plus extras (see above, also heat pump, etc.) plus landscaping, plus garage, plus moving costs, etc. Then add another 20k buffer and you have a rough guideline.

Are construction costs really that different in Germany and Austria?

Are the costs per square meter roughly similar for master builders or prefab providers? Or can it be said that one of the two variants is generally more expensive/cheaper?

I myself tend to go for a prefab provider with a fixed price due to lack of personal experience and a fixed budget, to reduce the risk of unexpected costs a bit. But maybe that will change if I delve deeper into the topic in the future... ;)
