What did you pay for the cistern (concrete or plastic?) including installation?

No idea, since it is an existing structure.

But you won't be able to compare that anyway: type of cistern, size, technology (filters, etc.), pipes, electrical connections, ground conditions, construction stage, delivery ...

If the large excavator is still there, it might be able to make a hole with a few scoops in little time and set the cistern. If the house is already built and a small excavator and lifting crane have to be used, the effort is much greater.

Hello,

Just from a current offer in NRW:

Concrete cistern about 3.1 m3, up to 3.50 m away from the building including piping and backfilling with connection to the roof drainage: €3,754.00. If the cistern is to be connected to the toilet flushing, an additional €1,936.00 will be added for 2x toilet flushing (separate piping), outdoor tap, and fine filter incl. pump.

For BW you can safely assume 4-6% higher costs.

Rhenish regards

If you can get exempted from wastewater charges for the outdoor water tap, you pay more interest on the 3754 than water fees for 25 m³. And even if you cannot get exempted from the wastewater charges, the cistern only pays off (assuming an interest rate of 2.5% and a water price increase according to Destatis.de of 1.5%) after 25-30 years, provided the cistern never runs empty (which I doubt with 3.1 m³) and no other repairs (pump etc.) are required.

Would anyone really voluntarily build this on their property unless it is mandated by the municipality?

It surprises me time and again; personally, I would rather have a well drilled

What costs do I have to expect completely for the well drilling?
