We have planned underfloor heating in the house (ground floor and attic). The basement is unheated. Currently, only three rooms are planned in the basement. A utility room, a storage room, and a relatively large room to which no specific function has yet been assigned. My electrician now said that I should tell the heating engineer to simply run a connection from the heating circuit distributor on the ground floor to the basement. This can initially be sealed off with a plug and turned off. If the large room is later to be used as a hobby room or similar and heated, a radiator can be connected to the pipes at a later time. Question: Does that make sense? Does that work that simply?

What kind of heating system do you have?

We are getting an air-to-water heat pump. The provider has not yet been decided (either Viessmann, Junkers, or Wolff).

To my understanding, you would then need a huge radiator. Your flow temperature is so low, it would hardly warm the radiator, let alone heat a large room.

Yes, the low flow temperature made me ponder as well. Therefore, I thought I would ask again here. The room is approximately 51m².

If it's just about warming up the room a bit when needed because you want to tinker with something or so, install an electric heater for 200,- on the wall. Done.
