But I have the feeling that this cannot be said often enough for future builders in every thread. I am surprised that this keeps happening, even with people who have been in the forum for a long time.

Is it actually normal for many companies to require payment for services in advance? I haven’t really spent much time dealing with the various prefabricated house companies (and whatever else there is), because after visiting several building fairs and model house parks, it quickly became clear to us that we would build with an architect. But for me personally, it would never be an option to make any advance payments. A trade is only paid once it has been completed and accepted as defect-free by an "expert" (site manager, expert, appraiser...?!). If there are still defects, part of the invoice amount is withheld until the defects have been remedied. Or am I seeing this incorrectly?
