You have almost exactly the same loan amount with the same income as we do (2 children, loan 239,000, 3% repayment with €1052 loan installment). With 2 children, you have to keep an eye on things here and there, big leaps are usually not possible (you do end up putting money into the house for years, e.g. outdoor facilities etc., even in an old building, and that still hasn’t ended long after 2 years of moving in and always costs a lot of money again). But I think that’s fine. And you can really reduce the repayment from time to time, for example when the parental leave for the 2nd child comes or something similar. How long does your wife want to take parental leave? Nowadays, there is the option to have the parental allowance paid out over 2 years at half the amount or to return to part-time work with reduced parental allowance; you don’t have to stay at home for 3 years.
