Purchase of a semi-detached house with a north-facing garden - which side?

Hello!

We would like to buy a semi-detached house. Unfortunately, the garden faces north, but the plot extends 30 meters to the back, so we will probably have sun in the garden. However, I would very much like to have sun on the terrace at the house as well. Now the question would be which semi-detached house would be the better choice (left or right - that is, west or east side). My thought was also that on the left or west side there might be more light during the day, but there is a large house right next door....

In general, I would prefer to have the half where there is more sun in the garden and, if possible, also some distance from the house on the terrace. The house to the left of the marked plot has a pitched roof.

I am grateful for any advice regarding sun and shade and maybe your opinion on the choice of the semi-detached house.

Best regards!

I would choose the west side, as a few windows can still be installed there and the house benefits from the west. A seating area is also feasible in the west. The bench in the front garden will also get evening sun. The garden doesn't matter, as every house will get more or less the same amount of sun. The difference is negligible. However, if the daily rhythm is more in the morning and the first half of the day, then I would choose the east.

Judging by the image situation, I would take the "right" half in the present case and make sure that the semi-detached neighbor does not place a shadow-casting fence in the garden. Normally, the west side is nicer, but the neighboring buildings including bushes and garages are more favorable on the east side here.

I would also take the east side because of the neighboring house. Although you don't know what will be built there, there is a lot of open space... I would like a north garden, we are now facing exactly south, although I am not so sun-hungry. So east side and then a nice sheltered seating area in the garden with a south/west view and a wall for wind protection and heat storage on the east side.

Thank you for your opinions. I also had these thoughts regarding the development on the west side. But of course, I very much wish to have some sun on the terrace at the house as well (maybe with a 2m distance from the house). Am I not seeing it correctly that the west side would then be more favorable? I also thought about the possibility that there might be more light inside the house during the day on the west side. I'm really quite torn back and forth...
