Protect windows from outside with "iron bars" against burglary

And that is exactly what it is.

As Gartenfreund already says, that would be stupid from the inside.

That is also a very good idea!

I have attached a photo of the corpus delicti here. I could drill a bigger hole with a large drill where I marked the red dot. I will do the same on the opposite side, only a little deeper than necessary. Then I insert the iron rod from the outside, center it, and fill both sides with cement.

Without having measured it, I should still have enough stable material going outward before the thermal insulation begins, so that no one can somehow “pull out” the rod.

What do you think about this plan?

I believe the image has made it clear for the first time. Yes, that does sound quite feasible.

Hmm, I cut through the handrail with a handsaw in less than 60 seconds

How far should the pipe go into the wall on both sides, how do you want to get cement behind the pipe (otherwise I can just push the pipe back into the hole, contact between pipe and cement won’t be very good).

The first step should be to ask someone who knows about this (so the police)

In my opinion, the bar does not have to be fixed at all. The mere fact that there is one will make the villain look for another option. Whether that will be the patio door or the neighbor remains to be seen.

Maybe 10 cm on each side. I pack it in there as well as I can with a trowel. Once everything is cured, I would say that you can’t really move it much anymore. Sawing through is of course possible, but it makes quite a lot of noise at first. Since I live in a mid-terrace house, hopefully the neighbors will be alert. Also, the window pane would have to be broken.

Asking the police is a good idea anyway.

I agree. And my patio door would then have a rather modern electric roller shutter again, which could deter the thief.

Would you take plaster, cement, or what is best?

Hello

use repair cement. Sets incredibly hard.
