Hello everyone,

I have questions for experienced electricians or DIY enthusiasts in the field of timber frame houses/wood frame construction:
How do you prepare sockets/switches on walls that are not yet covered and not yet insulated, i.e., interior walls that are still open on one side or the installation level on exterior walls.
Here as an example installation level that will be insulated later: attaching cables to the exterior wall and letting them extend into the room where a socket will be. When insulating later with wood wool, push the cable through the wood wool and leave space for the flush-mount box in the wood wool. Or how is it done otherwise?
I would appreciate experiences or pictures.
Thank you very much

You simply leave the cables hanging in front of the wool at the right spot, for example fix them with tape. After sheathing, you drill your hole and pull the cables out.

But you do mean that the insulation wool comes in front of the cables at first and you then pull them through at the desired spots? What I've always wondered is how to prevent drilling into the already laid cables when installing the boxes later [emoji6]

No, the cables go in front, otherwise you would have to stand next to it all the time while the drywall installer is working and always thread the cables through there, which is unnecessary. You should have a bit of a delicate touch when drilling, but nothing really happens.

Since I will do the electrical installation and drywall myself, I will probably fix the cables to the installation level first and insulate in front of them, otherwise it will be difficult to fix the cables to the insulation, as my battens on the installation level run horizontally. Whether it will work to push the hollow wall boxes into the wood fiber insulation, I still have to test; otherwise, I will cut the insulation with a cross-cut. I will drill the holes in the gypsum fiber boards before the boards are mounted on the wall.

We installed the cables in front of the insulation and did not secure them anywhere on the way from the ceiling/floor to the box. You should also be able to drill holes afterwards without damaging the cables. We had to do it this way for all the outlets in the ceiling (about 60 pieces) and did not damage or drill into any cables.

You are just making a lot of extra work for yourself if you lay the cables behind the insulation and then run them through the insulation. Simply pushing them through will not work. Even if you drill the holes beforehand, that probably already involves quite a bit of measuring effort.

Oh yes, we had no problem pushing the boxes towards the wool. We also use deep boxes everywhere.
