Our single-family house is equipped with a controlled residential ventilation system and a wood stove operated independently of the indoor air. The stove draws its air through the air-flue chimney. The wood stove is approved for operation in indoor spaces equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation systems. I thought that this would cover everything and no further measures would be necessary. However, the chimney sweep now requires a certificate from the ventilation system manufacturer stating that no negative pressure over four pascals occurs during operation. According to the manufacturer, the device is not capable of measuring pressure differences and recommends installing a differential pressure monitor. Is this really necessary? What other inexpensive solutions are there?
