Hello, everyone!

I am a bit desperate right now and hope you can help me.

A few weeks ago, I assembled my Faktum built-in kitchen; part of this is an Ikea Hjälpsam dishwasher from the manufacturer ELECTROLUX.

Earlier today, I thought it would be a good idea to clean a soap dispenser in the dishwasher.

When I happened to enter the kitchen again after 20 minutes, I found a wild foam party. The (actually small) remaining soap in the dispenser was oozing out of the dishwasher as an oversized foam mountain.

After I panicly turned off the water and painstakingly removed the foam from the kitchen, I wanted to get rid of the remaining foam from the machine by running it empty.

What puzzled me at first: The drain pump was running continuously even with the main switch turned off. And the set programs were aborted after a short time.

A look into the manual and a brief internet search revealed: The Aqua Stop automatic was triggered due to the water and foam escape; that’s why the drain pump runs nonstop.

Now the cause is eliminated, but the machine is still in "Aqua Stop" mode.

How can I reset this? I would rather not have to order customer service, wait forever, and spend a fortune.

Can anyone help me?

Best regards and many thanks,

Matthias

Hi,

I think you won’t be able to avoid a technician visit.

The dishwasher probably "thinks" that the foam still in the machine is water and stays in that mode until it’s gone. So maybe wait a few days and completely disconnect the dishwasher from the power; possibly the problem will resolve itself. Otherwise, call the hotline, the drain pump might have "burned out."

Greetings!

Fortunately, the problem is relatively easy to fix – I just got it done.
The dishwasher has a plastic tray under the slot where you load the dishes, in which, among other things, sits the mentioned float that disables the machine. The float works just as simply as the float on a fishing rod. If the water level rises (or water gets in there), the float rises; when the float rises, it interrupts a kind of electronic safety. For the machine to get water again or to function, the water in this tray or the float must return to the bottom of the tray. It sounds more complicated than it is.

0. UNPLUG FROM THE POWER!
1. Clear the dishwasher of dishes and especially foam.
2. Remove any kitchen panel at the bottom.
3. If you now lie down on the floor, you will see the actual panel under the door behind which the motor and the float are located. The panel is a wide piece of metal fixed with 6 screws. Simply loosen all 6 screws with a Phillips screwdriver, and the panel comes forward. The metal side walls will move slightly outward because the screws are no longer fixing them - don’t be alarmed.
4. Here you will see – next to the foam – various hoses, electric wires, etc. Do not touch anything there!
5. I carefully pushed in almost a whole paper towel roll (unrolled, of course) slowly and waited until it soaked up.
6. When all the foam and water are gone, you will see at the back right a kind of white styrofoam loop (floats excellently). If you carefully touch this part, you will notice it clicks when you lift it slightly. THAT is exactly the part that interrupted the contact and disabled your dishwasher. Since you removed water and foam, the part should now lie on the bottom.
7. The Aquastop is thus deactivated.
8. Screw everything back on and start the empty machine on the simple wash program.
Done

Best regards from Vienna!

Stefan

P.S. The dishwasher neither has to be taken out nor tilted! The only thing that has to be removed is the panel at the bottom between the support legs!

Just as a note: The probability that you lose the warranty by following Stefan's instructions is quite real. Maybe better to talk to the service first.

Had that before as well. Just like kuechenman described: simply dry the drip tray. The same problem sometimes occurs when too much rinse aid has been spilled during filling - then the whole machine foams over and the float does what it is made for - and the dishwasher doesn’t stop draining.

So, 1,000 thanks to the creative people of this round! I followed the instructions - nothing loses its warranty claim if you work carefully - and the dishwasher is running again like before! Great - saved time and nerves! Dirk
