I'm not surprised. Changes are met with a strike. If you take it out, you'll never meet the price. "Take it or leave it."

1700€ is cheeky... Order it natural and have it oiled by the painter? He'll definitely do it for a fraction...

For what reason should a €1700 surcharge be unreasonable? Oiled is not the same as oiled. One can certainly first question which product is used and how it is oiled.

Hello Sigi,

I don’t know which product. But it was only oiled once and therefore definitely less material was used than with painting. What circumstance should make the €1700 comprehensible?

Most stair suppliers I inquired with either have no price difference between oiled and painted or the difference is minimal.

But I am happy to learn. Then I would also be less annoyed if I could understand it.

After reading it carefully again, here I have the question

not seen and your answer

also overlooked. I have to fairly conclude that the surcharge is excessive.

An additional cost would be justified if, for example, the surface was oiled by hand 2-3 times and additionally treated with a finishing oil, which would make the surface even more resistant.

In your case, it really seems like only the home building company wants to earn.
