Hello everyone,

since the additional cost for foil coating the plastic windows in wood look is manageable, we have reconsidered this option.

What experiences have you had with it? With the major window players aluplast, Drutex or Salamander, you shouldn't really go wrong. Drutex seems to be one of the cheaper ones. They are from Poland, after all.

If I understood correctly, the windows are foil-coated, right? Is there any kind of long-term experience that the foil might come loose at the edges after a few years? Or are the windows covered with a complete foil rather than an extra foil per panel, where grooves form at the edges and these ends might come loose over time?

Let us know what experiences you have had with plastic windows in wood decor.

Thank you very much.

PS: Can you actually get sample foils sent here similar to tiles, or is it only possible to get an impression of the feel and look through live inspection?

We did this because we didn't want wooden windows, but we love the look. We have oak-look on the outside, no one can tell that it’s not real wood. But there are also [Folierungen] that look less realistic, although there is quite a large selection.

So our window fitter had samples of everything on-site that you could look at. So far we have had no problems, everything holds up as promised. Why not, it is like with the gray etc., just a [Folierung], which usually lasts a lifetime.

So your window manufacturer had both rather inferior foil, which looked less real, but also the one you chose. Where you can't see the difference from real wood. Cool. There was probably a small price difference between the inferior and the visually perfect foil, but not worth mentioning.

I roughly calculated an additional cost of 70-100 EUR per window compared to white standard plastic windows. I should be in the right range, or am I way too low?

Unfortunately, I cannot say anything about the price, as it was included in my total price from the general contractor from the beginning that we wanted [folierte Fenster].

Okay, thank you so far. Which manufacturer did you install for the window frames, do you know that?
