Plaster the underside of the carport

we also want to have the underside of our carport plastered. The battens are made of wood and plaster carrier boards are to be installed. Which boards are most suitable for this? Soft fiberboards? Our builder is a bit concerned that the plaster might crack. I have often read that eaves are also plastered. It's the same principle, isn't it?

Hardboard panels + plaster bases are already necessary, otherwise it really cracks. But why plaster? For the carport, wouldn't classic wooden panels be used?

It is a brick carport that is integrated into the house. Therefore, the same appearance should be created everywhere.

For the transition to the masonry part, there are expansion profiles from the relevant manufacturers, e.g. Sto. It was done with us: Above, wooden house insulated with wood fiber, transition to the perimeter insulation on the concrete. So far no cracks.
