Hello everyone...

We are currently planning our underfloor heating in our extension. Our extension is 7.50m x 5m in size... there will be 2 rooms...

We have regular radiators throughout the entire house... Our plumber recommends using an RTL in the smaller room and 2 RTL boxes in the larger room, as the price for a mixer including heating circuit distributor for 2 rooms would be too high.

Can you confirm this or have you had good experiences with such boxes?

Hello,

I would install a compact control unit with a circulation pump. Cost about 400€. This assembly is screwed directly to the manifold rail and regulates the temperature required for the underfloor heating.

The RTL is a crutch that I would definitely not use. RTL can be used as temperature control in a bathroom but not for 2 rooms.

The effort for the control unit with pump and a 4-way manifold is overall < 500€. And you have the possibility to properly regulate the temperature with thermostats.

If you save money here, you'll only regret it later!!

The problem is that we get a workshop 4x5m with 3 meters distance to the house in which we also want underfloor heating. Our house/extension is about 70cm higher than the ground level. The workshop has the height of our ground level. Then, due to the length of the pipes and the already existing district heating pipe 2x20, I would need an additional distributor with a mixer there or am I seeing it wrong?

I don’t understand that now, you have 2 rooms with about 40sqm and one separated room with 20sqm??

Theoretically, you can lay the supply and return from the distribution manifold with 2 corresponding pipes into the workshop and install a 2-way manifold there again. The pump assembly should handle that without any problems. The height difference is uncritical, especially if the pump assembly is higher.

I also have 3 distribution manifolds in my house that are fed by one pump assembly. The individual manifolds are served with 28mm stainless steel pipes. However, I have 28 heating circuits spread over 3 distribution manifolds. Depending on the laying distance (10cm in my case), you end up with 6 heating circuits (also with 10cm as an example) in your case. 1 heating circuit per 10sqm.

Here is a picture drawn with Paint (side view)
On the left the annex, on the right the workshop.
The annex is 7.5x5 (two rooms) and the workshop 4x5 (one room)

I also already have a district heating pipe with 2 pipes if that's what you call it

Could you now feed from the heating circuit distributor, which is installed in the annex including a pump with supply and return pipe, out to the right and into a distributor in the workshop?

I made a picture for that..

That's exactly how I would do it. Technically, it should work without any problems.
