Period between submitting the building application and moving into the new house

Eight months pass on average in Germany between submitting the building application for your dream house and moving in.

Can anyone confirm this? I just read this "statistical value" (?) in a "house magazine" and would be interested in its accuracy. If it is true, then that is of course great. I have just never heard or read this value anywhere before.

In June we submitted the building application, in September it was approved. In November it went for structural analysis, in February the building permit was granted and construction began. In August we moved in.

If you subtract three of the eight months for the approval, there are still five left for the complete construction. I consider that very short. Eight months from approval seems more realistic to me.

The average time between the building application and approval is 3 months. The construction company needs one month to start (unless it has no other contracts), a house takes 7 months... Viebrockhaus less with a tent, others again longer. I would generally say about a year if it is a general contractor. Half to one year more for individual contracts.

Under one year from the submission of the building application is already quick.

Submitted end of May / beginning of June 2018, approved end of August 2018, earthworks and foundation slab until March 2019, move-in August 2019. For us, that means 14-15 months from submitting the building application to moving in, and thus about as long as the preceding planning phase.
