…Price-wise you can easily get there. You just shouldn’t look at KD or similar. At Tuinmaximaal, 6x4m as clear glass with an under-roof awning costs under 8k
Upon closer inspection of the KD construction, there was already a very clear difference in quality compared to a reasonably decent metalworker (I even drove 160km to be able to compare). I don’t want to know what you can expect for 8k then. Better to just take the hardware store offer and replace it every 7-8 years, which means two more vacations at the beach.
KD is one of the cheaper providers. At these prices, it makes sense to deal a little with the construction method and quality; for this, I’ll give a few points to ponder:
- profile cross-section for wall mounting and roof structure support (the support surface tends to bend easily with cheap providers)
- sealing of screws that are screwed in from above (98% don’t do this)
- generally screws in profile color (many don’t have this)
- seals on which the glass rests (2, 3, or 4 lips and how long they are)
- horizontal gutter integrated in the profile or hung drainage (decisive for maintenance effort and/or unsightly water streaks on the supports)
- processing of the edges of the laminated safety glass (VSG) (unprocessed, and if water penetrates, they tend to fog up after years as moisture enters the foil between the glass panes)
- etc.
There is a huge difference between 8k and 15k for these points – as I said, seen live.
But everyone can decide for themselves.
exactly, that’s how it is. In summer, despite the awning, it’s so hot that you can’t sit there.
