Hello,

after moving in, we are now looking for lamps, currently specifically a pendant light for our dining table.
The dining table (1 meter wide, 2 meters long) is positioned centrally directly under the ceiling power outlet.

We definitely want something with multiple bulbs, so around 3-4 lights.
Regarding the height, I have read that the lamps should start only from 60cm above the tabletop so that they don’t get in the way.

However, we are now unsure about the width or length. With 80cm lamps, there is still quite a bit of choice, but anything larger gets tight. Would you find 80cm sufficient for a 200cm table?
The table can also be extended to 3m, but that is only rarely used for bigger celebrations or similar events.

Without budget and style, it's hard to guess. I'll just take a shot in the dark:
Eccentrically playful: e.g. Mooi Perch
Elegant with excellent light: e.g. Less & More Ylux, Tobias Grau Falling Trace,
Unobtrusive: One of those horizontal rods with LED strip - definitely see them in operation once, the differences are enormous
Industrial, Scandinavian, sculptural...

The Ylux have a focus lens, that solves the "problem" with an extended table.

actually, I shouldn’t be googling product recommendations from you anymore... I like your taste, but unfortunately, you regularly operate outside of my budget.

Nevertheless, I continue to gladly use your tips as a source of inspiration.

Thank you. For me, it's mainly about the width of the lamp. 80cm might possibly look "too narrow" on a 200cm table or, in the worst case, not illuminate the table well enough (the ends).

Of course, 80 cm is enough. 60 cm is also sufficient. Many families have a 180 cm table with one fixture, but actually multiple lights in a row are recommended. However, you might also want to think about how you use your table: who sits where, and what is done at the table? If you sit at the short side and play cards, you need different lighting than when eating. By the way, we solved it like this: variable 2-meter table, lights over one meter, since I often write at a corner of the table.

Thanks for the insight!
Good point. We have 6 chairs at our table. So 2 at the head and 2 on each side. We naturally always sit opposite each other on the sides. But not centered at the table, rather somewhat shifted to the left/right towards the head.
Maybe we’ll really try 80 cm. As mentioned, the selection gets thinner beyond that. And for now, you can only look at and order such things online anyway...
