Pay into the building savings contract or cancel it?

Hello,

my girlfriend and I moved in on 01.06.20. To access the money from the Bausparvertrag, we split 2 Bausparvertrag and closed one because enough was saved up. Due to the splitting, we now each still have a BS running for over 10k. I have not paid in anything so far because my VWL goes toward the company pension scheme. My girlfriend pays her VWL into the Bausparvertrag. I don't know the exact conditions off the top of my head right now. But I do know that an annual fee of 18€ is charged and the credit interest rate is 0.1. The product is called LBS MiniZins MZ 201.

My question now is: Should I simply pay in 512€ annually to receive the allowances, or just leave the contract without payment? But then I would only have deductions. If we need to renovate in 10/15 years, it could still be quite useful, right?

First of all, I assume that your employer pays the [VwL] in addition to the salary and does not deduct it. Likewise, your income should be "low enough" to even receive the government subsidy on top. If neither applies, the topic of [VwL] is completely uninteresting for you anyway.

The common alternatives that even come into question for [VwL] you can quickly find with Google. For example, advance fund savings plans. How the costs turn out you just have to compare.

I think I would leave the building savings contract as it is in your place, now you already have it. Or switch directly to the fund variant with the hope of being able to squeeze more returns from the stock market carousel.

Yes, I receive €26.59 in addition to the salary from the employer. This goes directly into an Allianz BAV insurance.
Our income limits with the income to be insured are above €17,900. For both of us, also above €25,600.

If I let the building savings contract stand without payment, then my accounts there will soon be in the negative due to the €18 annual fee.
Basically, a building savings contract is no longer a top product. But for a renovation on the house, securing the low interest rates is not bad, right? To use it in 15 years, I would also have to pay into it. But I also think that one contract should be enough for both of us, right?

In my opinion, the building savings contract doesn't make sense. Because of the fee, you are already in negative interest. On top of that comes inflation. In this case, it would be better to put the money under the mattress.

So you would cancel the home savings contract as well?

As an alternative, I can inquire at my bank about changing the contracts (e.g., to funds). But I am skeptical that anything useful will come of it.

I had canceled my building savings contract. I had received it from my grandpa with an initial amount. Meanwhile, the VWL are going into an ETF savings plan at Ebase.
