Paving up to the door - how to finish?

yes, that has been the plan so far. But is that how it's normally done? Are there no problems with moisture running behind? (everything that runs down the wall when it rains, there is no drip edge, and I don't want to drill)

Yes exactly, but then? Just leave the gap above the dimpled membrane open? Cutting it flush means that if you look closely you can see the dimpled membrane. Covering it would be better.

Then just cut the dimple membrane 1-2cm below the paving.

as already said above, I would do the same

and yet there remains a gap that I find unsightly

the previous solution was simply to pour gravel in there.
If that doesn’t bother anyone, I would consider that the "solution".

Split, sand... as you like.

There are also wall connection strips for the studded foil. This prevents anything from leaking behind, although an awning already helps a lot.
